Merry Christmas!!!
Okay I know it's already a few days after Christmas but we're still Christmasing :) The kids still have cousins to see and play with, candy to eat, and presents to open. I love this time of year with them. And now that L is getting more independant (thank goodness!!!) she is loving it. Being that her birthday is before Christmas and she's had a little practice opening gifts she knows what a wrapped up box means now. D has probably had the best Christmas yet though. He asked for the Thomas the Train Adventure Canyon for MONTHS and got it. It was the only gift from me and Josh that he didn't know about. By stupidity we took a 3 year old Christmas shopping with us. Of course he remembered everything he was getting. Yeah, we won't do that again.
It's this time of year though that I stop and thank God for how much he has blessed me with. Two amazing, wonderful, beautiful children. I can't help but remember Christmases past when I longed for a child so much. Now that I have them I can' t imagine life without either one of them, although I do long for sleep now that we have L. LOL! And as I write this she is again demanding me to get off the computer and attend to her needs. So maybe I can do this later.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year....Love to you all

Vacation
Josh, the kids and I had a great trip. We visited with his sister and her family for a few days in KC, K. We really needed to just get away from home. We actually could have used a couple of more days but we had to come back at some point. D loved playing with his cousins and even had fun with his uncle...who up until recently he wanted nothing to do with. But he's growing up and while watching him is fun, it also makes me sad. PK is only one year away :( We finally got D to go to the T-Rex restaurant though. After bribing him with donuts (ha!) he agreed to go in for lunch. Although he held his ears the whole time by the end of our trip he wanted to go back. We also went to a petting zoo, which D also enjoyed. They had tons of stuff to do and many different farm animals, however I think the highlight of the trip for him and dad was mining for minerals. He brought home a huge bad full of different kinds of rocks and all he's done since we've been home is play with them. We also enjoyed a lunch with our friend Jessica (my old roomie) from college. She has a beautiful little boy about 18 mo old and we got to meet her husband. In addition to all our excitement we also found ourselves in the basement of Josh's sister's house hiding from bad weather! But it didn't put a damper on our trip...it just made it more interesting :)
Since dinner Saturday night though I have found myself in prayer for a girl and her husband that we sat at a kibachi table with. On the way back to Jen's place after dinner Josh and I discussed what we'd both picked up on about them. The entire dinner at the table the husband watched Josh and D, while the wife watched me and L. When the cook asked how long they'd been married and they replied 6 years and he also pointed out that they didn't have kids...we knew they must be experiencing infertility or were facing something along the lines. She reminded me of myself before D. I have cried and prayed for her...I will keep praying for her. It was also a reminder to me that I will always carry these feelings even though I have my two wonderful babies and that I have to continue sharing our story. As funny as it sounds I hope I never forget what it feels like to go through all of it. God has blessed us with so much...I just pray that people can recieve hope through what he's done for us.

Counting Down!
YAY!!! Summer is almost here. We are sooooooo looking forward to spending more time together as a family. Sure, we see each other everyday (morning and evening for a couple of hours) but it is not the quality time that we would truly like to give our children. Don't get me wrong. I like my job. God has truly blessed we with a job doing what I love to do and working with some wonderful, godly people. I can't complain. Josh enjoys his job too. He just got a promotion by the way!!! Our family, however is our first priority after our relationship with God and if we want to have a quality relationship as a family we know that quality time and attention to that relationship is important. I (Jenn) look forward to summer the most though because I always wanted a family of my own and now that I have one I want to spend every moment I can with them. I love my husband and my children. God has been so good to us. Of course we'll see Aunts, Uncles, and cousins this summer and take some trips. L will take her first trip to KC. We're excited about that :) D was about 6 mo old when we first took him to KC. We'll continue some traditions like the little family trips we've always taken and begin some new ones. We've discussed camping?! Not sure that what I want to do...but the point being we'll be together!

Easter 2008
I got to spend spring break with my husband and kids. It was wonderful. All we did was stay home and play around the house. For my birthday we went to the "dinosaur museum". D loved it. Of course, he and Josh fooled around while L and I sat on the side lines watching the boys goof and play. She is definately a mommy's girl. To her mother's satisfaction she was upset that mom left her when it was time to go back to work. (Sorry Angie :)) I am truly in love with both of my children.
Easter was very rewarding. I have been working with D on what the true meaning is. Josh and I take Proverbs 22:6 personally. We don't do the Easter bunny, although D loves to hunt eggs!!! Can anybody say "money"? Last year he could tell you it was because Jesus died. This year it went something like this..."Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He went to Heaven in a cloud. Now He is alive!" I can see him learning and growing in that learning. I pray for him and L everyday...for their salvation. It is more important to me than anything else. I can never say "God has blessed us" enough.

Our Story
Our story is just that...our story. We believe that God has richly blessed our family and given us a wonderful story to share with so many others who are facing what we have...infertility, the miracle of adoption, and finally having a biological child of our own. It is our hope that through our story we can bring comfort and hope to many other families.
Our story began about 10 years ago when Josh and I met. We fell in love and were married two years later. I immediately wanted to have children, but Josh and I both agreed it was best to wait for me to graduate from college and get a job. I always had things planned to a T. Everything was going to happen in a specific order, but God had more in store for us. Our plans of getting a job out of college happened, but having children was a little more difficult. We tried for 3 long, difficult years without anything. I knew I didn't want to do invitro or anything like that. I told Josh fertility drugs were as far as I was willing to go. We also began looking into adoption. My father is adopted and I had always felt drawn towards that. We began the paper work and six months later went to the adoption seminar at Deaconess. They were a Godsend. We love the ladies there by the way! After the seminar we filled out MORE paperwork, but procrastinated probably more that we ever should have. A week after we mailed it back to Deaconess, they called. "A beautiful baby boy was born yesterday, and the mother has chosen you." Those were the most BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL words I've ever heard in my life!!!! We brought him home and didn't think about fertility drugs for another two years. Then one morning during my prayer time God led me to begin praying for our second child. Within the following two months we had FIVE failed adoptions. We began thinking this wasn't what God wanted for us and decided to try fertility drugs again. We thought..."our chances of adopting again are better that getting pregnant." Of course we were wrong. After our first round of clomid we found out were pregnant!!! Our baby girl is now 4 mo old. We do not deserve all that God has blessed us with. It's been an amazing journey. The funny thing is this is only the beginning of our story. What else does God have planned? Only He knows. What we've learned is that we HAVE TO trust HIM and him alone! His plans are perfect. He holds the answers to all our questions and He can take care of us better than anyone else.
